Custom Sauna Builder in Charlottesville, VA
A thoughtfully built sauna changes how you experience your home. We create custom indoor and outdoor saunas, infrared spaces, and specialty wellness rooms shaped around your property, your preferences, and the way you want to unwind.
Built for your space
Not another room. A place to return to.
In Charlottesville, homes take many forms: established neighborhoods near the University, contemporary residences around Crozet, and country properties throughout Albemarle County. A sauna should belong to its setting rather than feel like an afterthought.
Charlottesville Custom Saunas approaches each project through the practical details that make a sauna comfortable: the available footprint, bench arrangement, heater selection, ventilation, lighting, and the transition between the sauna and the surrounding space.
Whether you're converting an interior room or considering a separate structure outside, we help you evaluate what can work before construction begins.

Good sauna design begins long before the first bench.
A beautiful wood interior is only one part of the experience. A properly planned sauna also depends on its dimensions, heat source, air movement, material selection, and the relationship between the upper and lower seating levels.
We look at the room or site as a complete system, so the finished space is planned around how it will actually be used.
Every project starts with the right questions.

Practical answers for Charlottesville homeowners considering a custom sauna.
What does a custom sauna builder do?
A custom sauna builder plans and constructs a sauna around the intended space and use. This can include layout, bench construction, interior finishes, heater coordination, ventilation, and installation details. Unlike a standard kit, a custom sauna can be tailored to the dimensions and design of the property.
Can you build a sauna in an existing Charlottesville home?
Often, yes. Basements, bathrooms, wellness rooms, and other suitable interior spaces may accommodate a sauna. The feasibility depends on room dimensions, ventilation, electrical capacity, moisture management, and construction conditions.
Are outdoor saunas practical in Albemarle County?
Outdoor saunas can work well on many Albemarle County properties. The design should account for exposure, foundation requirements, drainage, utility access, and any applicable zoning or permit requirements.
How much does a custom sauna cost in Charlottesville?
Pricing depends on sauna size, construction type, heating equipment, finishes, and site preparation. An interior conversion and a freestanding outdoor building have different cost considerations. We review your proposed project before preparing an estimate.
Do I need a permit to build a sauna?
Permit requirements depend on the project and its jurisdiction. An outdoor structure, new electrical circuit, or significant interior renovation may require approvals. Requirements should be checked with Charlottesville or Albemarle County authorities, as applicable, before construction.
Do you install prefab sauna kits?
Prefab sauna installation is one of our services. Suitability depends on the kit, its specifications, the installation location, and any required electrical or site preparation work. Contact us with the model and project details for review.
